INTRODUCTION

For the modern International Military Report, I use an application from the region of Texas that I find to be awesome. Thanks a bunch Texas! Link for their app is right here. More helpful links can be found in the stickied thread by Panzersharkcat on these forums.

Since the addition of the formula, there is a clear, numerical way to determine military power. As a result, I'm going to put a plus or minus after each person's gross military score to show whether their military power increased or decreased over the last month.

CHANGES: I added Sacae to the list since he's RPing with us, but please tell Panzer to put your nation in the convenient links page for me so that I don't have to remember to add you to the list in the future. These things are monsters to write! I also added a total Korel score for the lulz. Also I deleted some of the oldest reports from the list here because it was getting out of hand.

Older reports on these forums:

DATA LISTS

Defense Spending
Defense spending is important to military strength for an obvious reason: if you're not spending any money on your army, you don't have a very well trained army, or a very well equipped army (Note that per-soldier spending is important here as well.). As far as you're concerned, remember this formula: More military spending = stronger military.

- 1) Rutianas: $198,106,021,241,856.00 (+ $10,103,550,895,227.00)
- 2) Selathorn: $96,726,031,186,487.50 (+ $9,904,872,188,733.30
^3) Burnination: $45,712,030,560,279.60 (+ 13,803,243,502,551.60)
^4) Sacae: $34,535,422,502,217.50 (No previous data)
- 5) Panzersharkcat: $33,282,397,103,432.40 (+ $1,816,790,656,887.30)
V6) Hispania Ulterior: $19,426,576,377,912.00 (- $30,267,827,273,885.30)
- 7) Bastian Dominion: $588,200,959,180.80 (+ $200,970,193,305.60)

Economic Strength - (Relative ratings determined based on data given.)
This one was added for a little more complicated reason. Firstly, if you have a more powerful economy, your nation is better equipped to weather a prolonged war without collapsing. Also, more industries means that you can produce more weapons during a war, and may be more difficult to strategically bomb.

- 1) Panzersharkcat: GDP Per Capita $46,936.52, Currency = $2.0165 (Economic Growth)
^2) Burnination: GDP Per Capita $45,003.60, Currency = $1.9745 (Economic Growth)
V3) Selathorn: GDP Per Capita $43,694.91, Currency = $1.9456 (SlightEconomic Growth)
- 4) Sacae: GDP Per Capita $34,819.68, Currency = $1.7360 (No previous data)
V5) Rutianas: GDP Per Capita $32,278.45 Currency = $1.6722 (Slight Economic Growth)
V6) Hispania Ulterior: GDP Per Capita $28,161.88, Currency = $1.3201 (Economic Regress)
V7) Bastian Dominion: GDP Per Capita $7,450.52, Currency < $0.4 (Economy Stagnant)

Population; -->(IN MILLIONS)<--
This is included for another simple reason. Population matters. Nations can be powerful just because of sheer numbers. Real world example: China.

- 1) Hispania Ulterior: 14303
- 2) Panzersharkcat: 10605
- 3) Rutianas: 8980
- 4) Burnination: 7934
- 5) Selathorn: 5488
- 6) Sacae: 3007
V7) Bastian Dominion: 1371

OVERALL RANKINGS

This list is essentially my interpretation of all the previous lists. I created a formula to plug the numbers above into to eliminate any subjectivity. Here is the formula for the raw scores:
International Military Report (FT) - June 2012 Milscore
If you're interested, you can plug it into your Linux style computer calculator or Google search bar like this:
Sqrt( (Sqrt(Spend)/1000000) * ((PopInTril*GDPPerCap)/1000) )
Please note that the scores given by this formula are objective, but they are not absolutely the final word. If you feel that the rankings are skewed, say so!

63.87323657193504 (+) - 10.00: Rutianas
Has Rut ever topped 200 trillion? I don't remember. For some reason I think yes. But oh well. This is just not fairrrrrrrrr.
53.58761509268539 (+) - 8.39: Panzersharkcat
Has changed from a power that was almost exclusively economic to a fairly well rounded power. Still a tad low on military spending, but can compete with the other major powers except Rutianas in that area. Certainly the most developed economically, so I wouldn't want to mess with Panzersharkcat in a protracted conflict unless I had backup, were Rutianas, or a secret plan.
49.13346067487015 (+) - 7.69: Burnination
Massive rebound. I still call shenanigans on the fact that all my stats went to the ground when my civil rights were "excessive." But whatever. Back to being an important power as has re-passed Selathorn and because Veridia's stats fell.
48.56331426116958 (+) - 7.60: Selathorn (Alpha Centauri)
Still cruising up the ranks here. Gross score has risen epically. Minus ten for metagaming though. Shun Wink.
42.13504466181180 (-) - 6.60: Hispania Ulterior (VP)
Oops. Is this what you were talking about -- accidentally eliminated income taxes? Dropped quite a bit of spending. But it should come back. Also a relatively low economic score is holding this back. Even marginal economic boosts here would be a great boon because of the population Veridia Prime.
24.80534634130624 (0) - 3.89: Sacae
Not too shabby for population size and for just seeing how the formula is going to work. Decents across the board, so increases across are what is needed here. I'd pull economically, but that's just me.
2.798939118280438 (+) - 0.4382 Bastion Dominion
Slower than a slug, slower than a snail, slower than another word that starts with 's.' But nevertheless, an increase. What is up with this one though Panpan? It has awful stats.

Yup that's what I was talking about, I went from 80% income tax or something along those lines to (as of today) a 1% income tax rate. The only positive was that it started over my entire spending rate, which allowed me to improve military spending (in the sense that at one time I have over 50% going towards spending). The problem is, there just not much there going towards anything Laughing But I'll keep trucking along and see where I'm at in July Very Happy

Totally done writing this one now. Happy with the table. I think it shows some interesting stuffs.

@ Panpan: Bad you.
@ Veridia: Yeah, that should go up pretty quickly once you get the right issues.
@ Sacae: Most of us also generally don't do too much with stats, but we do use this as a general guideline. Like, I couldn't go starting a war with Rutianas and claiming I win.
@ Sela: SHUN!
