INTRODUCTION

For the modern International Military Report, I use an application from the region of Texas that I find to be superior to the old application at NSEconomy. Thanks a bunch Texas! Link for their app is right here. More helpful links can be found in the stickied thread by Panzersharkcat on these forums.

Note to those of you who want me to add you to the report: PM me, and I will! Blah blah blah, don't be inactive and on my report. Not a concern at the moment. But seriously, with the increase in activity over here, you certainly may join the FT report. It's just a PM away.

Since the addition of the formula, there is a clear, numerical way to determine military power. As a result, I'm going to put a plus or minus after each person's gross military score to show whether their military power increased or decreased over the last month.

Oldest reports can be found on the old forums.

DATA LISTS

Level of Military Technology

Tech levels are important in the military. A bunch of dudes with clubs are going to lose to the army equipped with laser pistols, especially if the group with laser pistols blows the other group's planet up.

Rutianas - Future Tech + Super Weapon (X2)
Panzersharkcat - Future Tech + Super Weapon
Burnination - Future Tech + Super Weapon
Selathorn - Future Tech + Super Weapon
Shakuhou: Future Tech
Aescentia - Future Tech

Defense Spending
Defense spending is important to military strength for an obvious reason: if you're not spending any money on your army, you don't have a very well trained army, or a very well equipped army (Note that per-soldier spending is important here as well.). As far as you're concerned, remember this formula: More military spending = stronger military.

- 1) Rutianas: $116,217,319,998,512.00 (+ 3,359,432,969,764.00)
^ 2) Burnination: $42,504,668,709,048.00 (- 1,944,287,008,453.40)
^ 3) Selathorn: $19,251,042,914,009.10 (+ 7,934,072,883,555.20)
- 4) Panzersharkcat: $12,057,363,657,551.50 (- 496,720,771,654.80)
^ 5) Aescentia: $2,757,411,875,356.80 (+ 272,029,714,563.84)
^ 6) Shakuhou: $2,599,616,564,310.00 (- 200,858,934,976.40)

Economic Strength - (Relative ratings determined based on data given.)
This one was added for a little more complicated reason. Firstly, if you have a more powerful economy, your nation is better equipped to weather a prolonged war without collapsing. Also, more industries means that you can produce more weapons during a war, and may be more difficult to strategically bomb.

- 1) Panzersharkcat: GDP Per Capita $45,049.97, Trade = DEFICIT $67,157,846,849.09, Currency = 1.9756 (Economic Regress)
- 2) Selathorn: GDP Per Capita $44,006.76, Trade = DEFICIT $86,896,958,060.98, Currency = $1.9526 (Economic Regress)
- 3) Burnination: GDP Per Capita $40,100.45, Trade = SURPLUS $688,570,999,744.23, Currency = $1.8639 (Economic Improvement)
^ 4) Rutianas: GDP Per Capita $31,797.57, Trade = SURPLUS $2,046,248,651,646.52, Currency = $1.6597 (Slight Economic Regress)
^ 5) Aescentia: GDP Per Capita $22,413.42, Trade = DEFICIT $313,769,427,542.02, Currency = $1.0534 (Economic Regress)
^ 6) Shakuhou: GDP Per Capita $8,861.75, Trade = DEFICIT $1,472,198,444.57, Currency = $0.46834 (Economic Improvement)

Population; -->(IN MILLIONS)<--
This is included for another simple reason. Population matters. Nations can be powerful just on sheer numbers. Real world example: China.

- 1) Panzersharkcat: 7468
- 3) Rutianas: 5833
- 4) Burnination: 4794
- 5) Selathorn: 2316
- 6) Aescentia: 1860
- 7) Shakuhou: 1751

OVERALL RANKINGS

This list is essentially my interpretation of all the previous lists. I created a formula to plug the numbers above into to eliminate any subjectivity. Here is the formula for the raw scores:
International Military Report (FT) - January 2011 Milscore
Please note that the scores given by this formula are objective, but they are not absolutely the final word. If you feel that the rankings are skewed, say so!

Format:
Raw score - Relative score: Nation
Description
Raw score - Relative score: Nation
Description

44.7157653 (+) - 10.0: Rutianas
Increase in military spending from ridiculously high to more ridiculously high. Watch that economy though; it's been sliding for the last two months.
35.4024075 (+) - 7.92: Burnination
Back to where it belongs! A small drop in spending (which is still a big number) is more than balanced out by a large leap in economic rating.
34.1792476 (-) - 7.64: Panzersharkcat
No surprise here, Panzersharkcat has slipped slightly in both economy (which has gone from ridiculously high to slightly less ridiculously high) and military spending, which can barely be described as adequate.
21.1466969 (+) - 4.73: Selathorn
Switch! Selathorn has let its economy drop (a little) and opted to pass Panzersharkcat again in military spending. That was almost too easy. Now, if Selathorn had a bit bigger population...
8.32024179 (+) - 1.86: Aescentia
It's nice that Aescentia has a steady growth in military spending, but the number itself is tiny. Economy can barely be considered decent.
5.00184401 (+) - 1.12: Shakuhou
Still needs to work on economy.

The lines plotted are the best fitting cubic graphs for the data points according to my calculator.
