INTRODUCTION

For the modern International Military Report, I use an application from the region of Texas that I find to be superior to the old application at NSEconomy. Thanks a bunch Texas! Link for their app is right here. More helpful links can be found in the stickied thread by Panzersharkcat on these forums.

Note to those of you who want me to add you to the report: PM me, and I will! Blah blah blah, don't be inactive and on my report. Not a concern at the moment. But seriously, with the increase in activity over here, you certainly may join the FT report. It's just a PM away.

Oldest reports can be found on the old forums.

DATA LISTS

Level of Military Technology

Tech levels are important in the military. A bunch of dudes with clubs are going to lose to the army equipped with laser pistols. 'Nuff said.

Rutianas - Future Tech + Super Weapon (X2)
Panzersharkcat - Future Tech + Super Weapon
Burnination - Future Tech + Super Weapon
Selathorn - Future Tech + Super Weapon
Shakuhou: Future Tech
Aescentia - Future Tech
Bird Hunter (Ayzek) - Future Tech

Defense Spending
Defense spending is important to military strength for an obvious reason: if you're not spending any money on your army, you don't have a very well trained army, or a very well equipped army (Note that per-soldier spending is important here as well.). As far as you're concerned, remember this formula: More military spending = stronger military.

- 1) Rutianas: $112,857,887,028,748.00 (- 7,304,479,167,628.00)
- 2) Bird Hunter: $57,217,663,187,435.50 (Unknown)
V 3) Burnination: $44,448,955,717,501.40 (+ 3,339,762,316,571.50)
- 4) Panzersharkcat: $12,554,084,429,206.30 (+ 1,882,064,984,771.00)
V 5) Selathorn: $11,316,970,030,453.90 (- 6,154,559,461,026.20)
V 6) Shakuhou: $2,800,475,499,286.40 (+ 278,140,148,339.07)
V 7) Aescentia: $2,485,382,160,792.96 (+ 738,368,426,073.96)

Economic Strength - (Relative ratings determined based on data given.)
This one was added for a little more complicated reason. Firstly, if you have a more powerful economy, your nation is better equipped to weather a prolonged war without collapsing. Also, more industries means that you can produce more weapons during a war, and may be more difficult to strategically bomb.

- 1) Panzersharkcat: GDP Per Capita $47,286.36, Trade = DEFICIT $497,358,357,967.83, Currency = $2.0240 (Economic Improvement)
- 2) Selathorn: GDP Per Capita $45,881.48, Trade = DEFICIT $226,284,920,037.83, Currency = $1.9937 (Economic Improvement)
- 3) Burnination: GDP Per Capita $37,298.26, Trade = SURPLUS $1,414,244,261,105.77, Currency = $1.7976 (Economic Regress)
- 4) Bird Hunter: GDP Per Capita $34,147.71, Trade = SURPLUS $459,508,243,187.28, Currency = $1.7200 (Unknown)
V 5) Rutianas: GDP Per Capita $31,962.68, Trade = SURPLUS $1,193,931,944,787.52, Currency = $1.6640 (Economic Regress)
V 6) Aescentia: GDP Per Capita $22,887.16, Trade = DEFICIT $278,978,425,851.99, Currency = $1.0644 (Economic Regress)
V 7) Shakuhou: GDP Per Capita $8,293.55, Trade = SURPLUS $19,833,575,216.75, Currency = $0.4531 (Economic Regress)

Population; -->(IN MILLIONS)<--
This is included for another simple reason. Population matters. Nations can be powerful just on sheer numbers. Real world example: China.

- 1) Panzersharkcat: 7279
- 2) Bird Hunter: 6206
V 3) Rutianas: 5642
V 4) Burnination: 4604
V 5) Selathorn: 2131
V 6) Aescentia: 1677
V 7) Shakuhou: 1564

OVERALL RANKINGS

This list is essentially my interpretation of all the previous lists. I created a formula to plug the numbers above into to eliminate any subjectivity this time. Here is the formula for the raw scores:
Sticky: International Military Report (FT) - December 2010 Milscore
Please note that the scores given by this formula are objective, but they are not absolutely the final word. This is the formula's first use; I'll want your feedback.

Format:
Raw score - Relative score: Nation
Description
Raw score - Relative score: Nation
Description

43.7694524 - 10.0: Rutianas
Dropped in both economics and military spending. And, with a new competitor showing up, Rutianas' position in number 1 is looking shakier than ever. (Is that a sad statement or what? Someone has half her spending, and I call that a shaky lead.) Needless to say, without the formula, I'd have given Rutianas a 10.0.
40.0377079 - 9.15: Bird Hunter
The only reason that Ayzek was able to score so high here was that the Rutian economy and spending are at a low right now. I suspect that next month, Rutianas will knock this score down a bit. Also helping to propel Ayzek here is a large population. I'd actually give Ayzek an 8.5 were I not using the formula.
34.9220768 - 7.98: Panzersharkcat
Surprise surprise, Panzersharkcat has overtaken Burnination. Note that Panzersharkcat is also propelled by population and economic strength. As a result, Panzersharkcat is strong in prolonged conflicts, but if you were to gain a good advantage early, that 7.98 would be super misleading. I'd grade Panzersharkcat at 7.85/7.9 max.
33.8358689 - 7.73: Burnination
The best increase in spending coupled with a slight economic drop means a slight increase in score. Were I rating this without the formula, I'd have stuck with 8.2, or 8.1. Yes, you're thinking that that is just because you're you. But really, look at Panzersharkcat, he's up and down the scores here. Burnination is consistent, and lead by spending, not the population/GDP block.
18.1360613 - 4.14: Selathorn
Selathorn has decided to concentrate primarily on GDP, letting its military spending lapse. As a result, it scores low on the rankings. It should also be noted that Selathorn is at the unfortunate disadvantage of being so small.
7.77876727 - 1.78: Aescentia
Needs more of everything.
4.65904122 - 1.06: Shakuhou
Needs more economy!

(I'm finally NOT at the bottom!)

Very nice, I think the formula is working well for this. Thanks for the hard work, Burn.
