The Seraph blasts it with the alien atomizer. It's a critical hit! It disintegrates it completely.

The raiders seem to notice the fighting. They were headed in the general direction of the group, but that alien weapon had them turn tail and run.

For some reason, Tex thinks this is funny. He takes a few shots in the raiders direction, though he's not aiming to hit. Only to scare. The raiders pick up speed. They know when to fight and when to run.

The Seraph fires in their direction, too. He's aiming to scare, too, though one shot does graze one in the ear. Burned off some of her hair, too.

Once the raiders are out of the way, Tex continues on his way to Freeside. Fortunately, there's no other problems to stop them. Freeside still isn't the best place, but it's becoming safer. The Kings are still thriving there and they all seem to defer to Tex.

When they arrive at the Lucky 38, Helena greets Arcade by holding up a gecko skin.

Arcade looks relieved to see that. He nods. "Just one?" He raises a brow.

Tex shrugs. "I don't skin 'em. Don't need 'em." He moves over behind Arcade, disarming himself and setting his weapons up against the wall.

She says, "It's been a while since I did this. Plus, Seraph Valefor disintegrated one of the others." So that's his name, or at least title.

Raphael says, "You haven't lost your touch."

Tex grins at Helena. "An' here I thought you did this everyday."

Arcade frowns a little at hearing the man in black's name, but he doesn't make any kind of comment. The frown turns almost thoughtful.

"You flatterer," she says as she chuckles.

The Seraph, noticing Arcade's frown, says, "You may simply refer to me as Alfred Norden." Tex will have the perception to realize it's a pseudonym.

Tex smirks at Helena. "All part of the job." He looks toward the Seraph as he speaks to Arcade, raising a brow. Yeah, he noticed.

Arcade, however, just shrugs. He turns back to his terminal.

"It's only been two years since I retired from shooting at people who shoot fire out of their hands," she says.

Tex looks mildly interested now. "Shootin' fire out their hands?" He shakes his head. "Sounds science-fictiony. But then again, the world we're livin' in sounds the same."

She says "Considering that I have actually met a demon and Cain in the flesh, nothing really surprises me."

Raphael continues, "Then there was that Darkseid business around the time Savage revealed himself as Cain. Being under the influence of the Anti-Life Equation is not pleasant. Same with near-multiversal collapse from actions of said god of evil."

Tex nods and doesn't respond. Instead, he wanders behind the bar and gets himself a bottle of whiskey. He doesn't bother with a glass. He just opens the bottle and takes a drink.

"It's a shame sometimes our problems spill over here, though." She decides not to name specific examples, like the mass zombie apocalypse of Black Lanterns.

The chancellor says, "If there is nothing else, we'll play the games here for about a week and leave."

Several weeks later, around May 24, another courier arrives at the Lucky 38 with only a sealed envelope. Inside is a black card with the TSC emblem embossed in silver and a message in silver ink.
