They push onward, radioing back to base that they've spotted some people.

When they do, they soon hear someone shout something to them in Chinese which amounted to, "American capitalist pigs! You are fools for walking into our held territory! For coming here you will find a swift death!"

And then gunfire begins to break out.

Their tanks and armored personnel carriers fire back. They radio back that they're being fired upon.

The Chinese troops appear to be hard to hit, as they tend to be equipped with advanced(ish) stealth suits. Their firepower seems to be rather lacking, however, with many of them using old assault rifles that should barely even scratch power armor.

That applies only to soldiers who wear power armor, which is only a small percentage of them. Of course, their own combat armor is nothing to sneeze at and it'd take armor piercing rounds or bursts to break through the armor. They do end up getting initiative on them on part of being hard to see but the moment they shoot, they give themselves away. They push on.

As they do so, they encounter fiercer resistance, including some tanks that the Chinese have sent over to deal with the Swiss tanks. Extremely old and highly damaged tanks that barely run, but they still are tanks.

Given the vast differences in quality of tanks, it will likely be like what happened when M1A1 Abrams went against Iraqi T-72s: curb stomp battle. Regardless, they call in air support in the form of A-10 Thunderbolt IIs, as well as combat model Eyebots. If the tanks don't do the job, the Gau-8 Avenger cannons of the Thunderbolts will.

Once the air support is called in, the tanks have pretty much all been destroyed. The Chinese soldiers begin to realize that they're fighting a losing battle and begin retreating towards their base.

They follow, sending out orders in German, French, Russian, and finally, Chinese, to cease fire. The first three were more or less to indicate that they're not Americans. As for Chinese, there are over a million ethnic Chinese in the Philippines, as well as a few post-war Chinese settlements in Europe, much like the Shi in San Francisco.

The Chinese do stop after realizing that the Swiss weren't Americans, more out of fear then anything.

They reluctantly allow them to enter their base, as long as they don't bear their arms openly.

They go in with weapons slung over their backs. If they are led to Colonel Cheng, Major Not-Quite-Named-Yet will salute him.

(OOC: No, that's not actually his name.)

They are indeed led to Colonel Cheng, who is flanked by several elite Chinese Dragoons. When the Major salutes him, he returns it, if a bit grudgingly. He then says to him in somewhat accented English, "What is your purpose in coming here? Why are you aiding the Americans?"

Major Irbe, a Latvian, replies in accented Chinese, "Aiding the Americans? We were just exploring the area. The only other ones we've met were the Russians."

Colonel Cheng harrumphs, and says back in Chinese, "Exploring the area? More like marching down an army to bring our demise. Our war has been a stalemate for centuries, and your presence here has tipped the balance in favor of the Americans, even if you don't directly aid them."

"Yes, because you shot at us first. If your men had taken the little bit of time to notice the difference between our uniforms and tanks and whatever the Americans had, you would still have a tank force. I got the impression that Alanda and Alexia informed you of our presence, too." He stops to think for a moment. "I know the United Municipalities of North America are in the area. Their leader mention sending development aid to the Americans there. They may even be coming now."

"If we marched troops into your territory, wouldn't you have done the same? It doesn't matter who you are, it's not something we take lightly. And what's this 'United Municipalities'? Is this the United States now?"

"No, in fact, we would ask you to identify yourselves first and only if you refused to answer or were somebody who had been hostile before would the shooting start. Again, we only had some fuzzy idea of what was in this direction and we were to explore the area. That was the mission of the Alaskan Expeditionary Force. As for why we were so well armed that we even brought aircraft, there was the possibility of encountering something like giant forty-foot-tall robots that shoot lasers out of their eyes and throw nuclear bombs around like one of those American footballs. It has happened. As for what is the United Municipalities, they're a post-war government that emerged around this area." He pulls out a map and points to UMNA territory. "That down there is New Vegas and the other part is Caesar's Legion, who defeated the remains of the United States government, a group called the Enclave. We did manage to grab many of their scientists and soldiers, though. There are even a few, maybe a dozen, in the Foreign Legion."

"Hmm, I can start to see that it's probably some of my troops at fault here, although my suspicions have not yet been eradicated. And are you saying that the nation of America proper has been destroyed? Hearing that brings great joy into my heart, strange to me as the feeling may be. The people from the mainland told us that we should stop fighting, and I'm beginning to believe that they may just be right."

"Well, there was a lot of communication error on our part, too. And yes, it appears that way. It's a shame they got that far, though. Had it not been for somebody's betrayal of an organization called the Brotherhood of Steel, the Enclave could have been checked and defeated at Adams Air Force Base. They destroyed one of the most powerful nations, the New California Republic, that arose after the war, too. A bit of revenge for the first war between the Enclave and the NCR, I suppose. New Vegas took over as the successor state, at the very least." He takes a breather.

"They would probably be the right thing to do, though you should probably make sure the American side here knows that, too."

"I see. Having thought over what I've just recently learned, I believe that it may well be time for a peace treaty. Or at least a ceasefire. If we and the Americans mutually decide to meet to create the agreement, would your nation as a neutral party be willing to host the meeting?'

"We should be able to. If you will excuse me for a moment, I will have to consult with my superiors." After a few minutes, he says to Cheng, "Newly elected member of Parliament Taras Sidorov is willing to be assigned to this, if the two sides will agree to it."

As the Major consults his superiors, Cheng drafts a letter inviting them to send a delegate to the Russian camp to discuss terms for the end of the conflict, in both English and Chinese.

"Very well, I see. Could you please relay the following letter to the Americans, then? I believe that they would not trust the message if we delivered it directly to them."

***

Greetings, Esteemed American Leader,

I, Colonel Cheng of the People's Liberation Army in Alaska, have recently acquired new information on the state of the world from a foreign power, The Swiss Empire, and after a show of force from them I have realized that it would be best for all involved in this conflict in our region to stop fighting. For years and years we have punished ourselves in the names of our countries, both of which do not even resemble their proper form anymore. There is no purpose for our conflict anymore, and I believe the time has come for us to end our ancestral feud. Send one unarmed delegate to the Russian camp. We will do the same. There, we will make our peace.

Cordially, Colonel Cheng of the PLA in Alaska

They take it to the American camp by helicopter, notifying the UMNA first.
