A Rustling, But More Than Bushes (MT/PMT)

(OOC: I'll stick with basic telekinetic stuff as far as abilities go., with a bit of stealthiness.)

The Knight, annoyed that the shuttle took off without him, tries to head for the compound, sticking to the shadows as he goes along. He tries to not engage in any fighting if possible.

Meanwhile, at a military base near Istanbul, 1st Company of the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment takes off on board their Airbus A400 for a rescue mission. Cruising speed of 480 mph (780 km/h).

(OOC: They're regular infantrymen equipped with what a modern paratrooper would have.)

The Chameleon checks the datapad and manages to get a weak signal from the orbiting satellite. As soon as he uplinks, the datapad starts to download what is probably updates. "Well, I get a signal, but it's updating. I can try and contact the Consulate." And he does make the attempt. There's no response so he leaves a message. Afterward, he shrugs. "I'll do what I can to help. If they get that message, we won't know until they get here."

At the Consulate, the message is indeed received. They can't contact him directly, but they do know the situation. Naturally, they don't bother attempting to contact anyone else. They just turn the information over to K'Rina and Rould.

K'Rina just looks at D'Arc.

"What?" D'Arc shakes his head at K'Rina. "I'm not going to commit troops to this."

"They're the legal government. The message was clear enough. They need help there. A couple of planes and some ground troops won't hurt." K'Rina continues to just stare at D'Arc.

"Fine. One plane to fly over and see how bad it is. Then I'll send one hundred soldiers in." Not much, but K'Rina obviously doesn't have much control over D'Arc.

The High Priests, Swiss, and Chameleon are all supplied with ammo and sent to positions at the compound. When they get there, they discover that the Captain inside wasn't kidding. They note several more emplacements of loyal troops, but a mass of rebels preparing to storm the compound.

And without further ado, the rebels charge towards the compound, firing weapons and throwing grenades. The Bismouthi fire back, but they're pretty outgunned at the moment...

(OOC: You can post that your reinforcements arrived in your posts if you want, but just post to the point that they arrived. Don't have them intervene yet.)

They start firing back, taking carefully aimed shots. No Rambo-style firing for them. Whenever it is that a plane flying at 480 mph leaving from Istanbul will arrive at that compound, paratroopers, roughly a hundred or so, start descending from the skies. The Imperial Knight makes his way to meet them.

And the A&A plane flies overhead. Yes, they have the ability to bomb the bad guys. Yes, they will if necessary. Shortly after that, the ground troops will arrive and be ready to intervene.

The Chameleon enters stealth, though he keeps close to the High Priests. He'll protect them as best he can. He doesn't have any word from home as to what to do, so he's going on instinct right now. That instinct is to protect the official government.

Many of the Bismouth rebels that were charging up the hill fall to the defenders, but there are just so many of them that they keep coming.

One or two Bismouthi emplacements fall silent, their defenders dead or incapacitated. The rebels begin dropping to the ground to steady and waiting for the defenders to stick their heads out of their emplacements so they can take well-aimed shots of their own. They're frightfully close at this point.

A few start pulling out grenades, and they're really too close to miss.

Over the PA system of the compound:
"Everyone fall back to their position 2 locations."

The High Priests and presumably the Swiss and Chameleon fall back to position 2, which is actually sort of a last stand room in the compound. Even from the emplacements where the defenders hadn't stopped firing, only one or two soldiers begins running towards the last stand area.

High Priest Xenon's arm is bleeding, but he hasn't noticed yet, so it's probably best not to tell him.

The rebels' footsteps are heard inside the compound, making their way towards the room...

Planes from A&A soar overhead, catching a glimpse of a few people going in to one of the buildings at the airbase, and also seeing some sort of a camp outside that looks to have been thrown together and flies some strange flag that no one has ever seen before.

When landing parties arrive, they meet no resistance, but hear gunfire from the nearby engagement in the compound.

The Swiss arrive at this point, parachutes covering the sky. The A&A troops are outside, and the Swiss too hear the gunfire from the compound.

Linda Lang makes her way to the last compound. The Special Forces troops will stay and stem the tide of rebel troops, punching them in the face with their knuckle-blades if they have to, in order to let loyalist troops retreat if they have to.

Meanwhile, 1st Company, 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment makes its way to the compound, meeting up with the Imperial Knight on the way. They advance and open fire on rebel troops. Sniper fire starts up. One of them, if he can be seen, is wearing a beret. A 1st Recon beret specific to the New California Republic.

The A&A troops will assist the Chameleon and stay with him, taking his orders. And his orders are to help protect the High Priests. They'll let the Swiss deal with the front lines. They're going to protect the government.

So the Swiss and A&A troops begin to move towards the compound where the fight is taking place, the Swiss taking up positions outside to keep more rebel troops from entering the compound. Good timing too, because more rebels come from outside to combat this new threat. They fight sniper fire with sniper fire, and keep low. They're not risking a close quarters engagement with the Swiss troops.

For the first time, they seem to be sparing with how they use the lives of their troops. Before, it was charge here, spray fire there. Now it's tactical.

The A&A troops enter the compound to catch up with the government troops.

"That must be reinforcements," High Priest Neon shouts. He's tending to High Priest Xenon, who is tending to him, since they've both been disabled as far as shooting a gun. "Just a little more time!"

They all try to ignore High Priest Helium, whose body remains on the ground.

Between the Chameleon, remaining three government troops, the original Captain, and the remaining Swiss troops, their firepower has vastly decreased.

Which is about the time that all of the rebels who entered the compound decide to enter the holdout room. High Priest Radon tries to fire at them, but his gun simply clicks, and there is no more ammo.

The lead Rebel removes his hood, revealing, (drum roll please) High Priest Argon. He smiles at High Priest Radon and pulls out a pistol.

"Come over here," he commands. 70 rebel troops have submachine guns trained on everyone in the room. It adds a 'now' to that command.

High Priest Radon calmly stands up and walks over to High Priest Argon, who puts High Priest Radon in front of himself with the pistol to Radon's head.

The A&A troops crash through the door, finding this scene.

Outside, a group of Bismouth troops slams into the rebel army from the side, then rolls around them, pressing them between themselves and the Swiss.

The A&A planes bomb the camp outside the airfield, as the Bismouthi troops on the ground were able to radio that it is definitely the rebel camp.

There are only two Special Forces troopers left alive. Their armor is nice and all, but there are still gaps in it and with the sheer numbers arrayed against them, things will get around it. It's amazing any are left alive. They don't move, knowing that any sudden movements could mean that Radon's head could get blown off. They wait for the leader of A&A troops to do something.

Outside, the Swiss troops start pushing forward to further squish the rebel troops between them and the loyalists. The sniper in the 1st Recon beret starts firing on officers and NCOs in an attempt to put them in disarray. Preparations are made to send more troops, power-armored soldiers in particular, but they won't arrive for hours and the battle will likely be over by then.

Well, when the A&A troops crash in, the Chameleon chooses to take that moment to hit stealth and go after Argon, not to kill, but to disarm and incapacitate as best he can.

The A&A troops are pretty good at what they do, but they're no where near the military training level of the Chameleon. After all, they weren't raised in a society that the military is the be all end all of civilisation. They're not even sure what to do with the hostage situation. They would take their cue from the Chameleon, but he's not visible at the moment.

Well, when the Chameleon vanishes, the Bismouthi rebels fire their submachine guns around the spot where he disappeared.

High Priest Argon smiles knowingly and pulls the trigger.

High Priest Radon falls to the ground, blood oozing from his shattered skull.

The Chameleon cuts High Priest Argon down just a moment too late.

The Bismouthi rebels turn to fire on the A&A troops.

(OOC: Not to worry, that was the plan from the start. The only way that you could have saved Radon was for all your troops to have opened fire the moment they walked in. Which isn't a likely reaction.)

The rebels outside are crushed like an egg between the Swiss and the loyalist forces. They try to regroup to take a charge at the loyalists and break out, but when their officer falls, they scatter and are slaughtered.

The jamming around the government airfield appears to be down, as signals can get through once again.

Once the death of Radon occurs, the Chameleon doesn't care if Argon survives or not. He's not happy. He does go after the rebel troops as well.

When Radon falls, the A&A troops do open fire on the rebels.

Word is sent back to A&A about what has happened.

When Radon falls, the two surviving troopers throw themselves into the rebel troops. The Imperial Knight, at this point, has taken a squad with him into the compound. They arrive in the middle of the fighting and join in.

Well, the rebel troops inside are cut down quickly. They're outgunned by the A&A troops and badly positioned to even put up a fight. They try, but their level of success is questionable.

"And in one fell swoop, the rebellion and its leader are dead," High Priest Krypton says quietly in the silence after the fight.

Bismouthi troops immediately begin regaining control of the compound, and medics arrive to treat the wounded.

High Priest Krypton, relatively unscathed from this whole affair, asks to speak with the Swiss and A&A leaders. The Chameleon may come along too. Probably to discuss what happens next.

The Knight gives the datapad to the Chameleon and then leaves, his delivery job done. He calls down the Lambda and heads back to Rhea.

The two survivors and Linda Lang follow, but not before collecting the body of their dead squadmates.

The Chameleon drops stealth, though he's been shot again. This time on the other arm. He's grumbling about it, glaring at the A&A soldier that shot him. Hey, the soldier had no clue where he was. He's treated rather quickly by A&A medics who tagged along to help with wounded. Once he's been treated, he does follow along.

Bismouth offers its medical facilities and staff to any foreign troops who had been wounded.

High Priest Krypton leads Linda Lang, and the Chameleon to his office.

"Now that the rebellion is dealt with," he says, "we will regain control of Bismouth. We owe your nations a debt, even if the end of the rebellion came at a steep price to our leadership."

"Why I really pulled you here is because after this, it will be very difficult for me to get privacy. And I need privately to ask you what actions I should take after this. When members of the Priesthood die unexpectedly, they are succeeded by their inferior priest. Which makes me High Priest Radon, and I have no idea how to deal with government."

The Chameleon starts to shrug, but stops with a wince. "Hey, I'm just an Ambassador. I don't know about running a country." He sighs. "I could put you in contact with Emperor Darson, but he's pretty busy. He still might be able to offer some advice and possibly assign someone as liaison to assist you."

"Likewise. Now that we are no longer being jammed, I could ask Chancellor Bertinelli to help you."

Meanwhile, the alert back in the Empire is halted and those extra troops have gone back to their posts.

The Bismouthi troops that had been keeping the borders watertight throughout the entire ordeal are given the stand down order. Bismouthi news stations and radio stations are back online, though none of them have any information yet. They all promise information my 7 PM that day.

The sense of tension throughout Bismouth is gone.

High Priest Krypton, or, rather, High Priest Radon, nods graciously. "Thank you. Your embassies here in Bismouth will be restored as quickly as possible. Always know that you have a friend in Bismouth."
