Deathclaws and Kitties and Spiders! Oh My!

After a brief contact with the nation of Altayr, the Bastian Dominion has offered to engage in a virtual reality mock war with Altayr as a means of training both armies and space fleets. The program will take place on Bastet in cities all over the world where they will link up in one big program and duke it out. Safety protocols are engaged so that nobody dies, though there will be intense pain upon being shot.

The offer was soon passed on to the Army Secretary and then to the Altayrian President. The president accepted the offer, soon contacting the Bastian Dominion on rules and boundaries. The secretary meanwhile, informs both the General of the Army and the Fleet Admiral of Altayr.

Unless the Altayran government cares to give out schematics of their warships, both sides will be using old declassified Bastian designs for the sim warships. Same with most vehicles. Small arms can be calibrated in the simulation very quickly. There's no killing of prisoners of war. Soldiers guilty of that will be pulled out of the simulation for a reprimand. It will be Red army versus the Blue army simulating a battle for control of the fictional planet of Testingstan.

Since the Altayrian Fleet is compromised of new spaceships, and still have weak power, Altayr decides to have the second option, while asking if their Cyber Force is allowed, or should be degraded to armored vehicles. Altayr will use its normal soldiers as well.

They request clarification as to what is meant by "Cyber Force."

Clarification given. Summarized, it is a small army of huge armored walking machines. Making nano-tech robots is Altayrian specialty.

Permission is granted, as Bastians consider nano-tech to be overrated, as far as manufacturing and weaponry goes.

Altayrian Military is done with preparations. The Bastians can commence whenever ready.

When the Altayrian military arrives and are strapped down, they receive a briefing as to their resources and logistics. Both sides have access to a few dozen old Bastian destroyers, battleships, and carriers, all armed with rail guns. They all have the equivalent of a few hundred thousand soldiers and they are scattered roughly into two evenly divided halves. (It's really more the size of a moon. But you know, VR sim.)

The Bastian fleet opens fire on the Altayrian one.

The Altayrian fleet was a bit late to respond costing them a few ships but return fire a few seconds later.

A few ships go down in return. They launch fighters.

The battleships still focus on the main cruisers while sending fighters to intercept.

The more experienced, as far the specific model of fighters used in the simulation goes, Bastian pilots hold their own. A sizable chunk of the fighters escort the landing craft as they are sent out to occupy their zone.

Battleships direct full power of attack towards enemy Battleships. Meanwhile, landing crafts race towards the planet, escorted by 3/4s of the fighters, while the rest attack all the enemy fighters - be it dogfight or head-to-tail.

The two swarms of fighters dogfight with each other as they escort their troops down to the ground. Bastian troops begin pouring out, after losing about a tenth of their landing force, and begin establishing fortifications.

The Altayrians lose a bit more of their landing force, and abouth a tenth of their fighters. The fighters still engage in dogfight with the Bastian fighters, some going Kamikaze whenever they feel hope is lost. Meanwhile the landing force start building fortifications in a few meters away from each other.
