(OOC: Not ridiculously tough, but dangerous at the beginning.)

The chest shot manages to surprise the ogre and staggers it, Brian then charges in and cleaves the creature with his axe. After a few swipes, the ogre is down without anyone taking any damage. Dalor then motions towards the stairs.

"If you guys are ready, let's go."

When they go down the stairs, they find themselves in a fairly large room with a small horde of orcs on the other side, with five grunts, one warrior, one priest, and one mage. The mage begins shooting out fire and ice spells at the party, while the priest seems to be doing nothing but uttering prayers... until the divine power smites the party. Meanwhile, the melee orcs advance towards the party, but Credic shouts and points at the orcs, "Mephitic Cloud!"

A poisonous looking purple cloud then appears over the orcs, and they bumble around confused, hitting each other rather then trying to get over towards the enemy. However, the priest and the mage are still going strong, and Credic then says,

"Alright, that should give up a bit of time. Try to take those backliners out, we can mop up the frontliners later."

Daedas nods affirmatively and begins shooting at the mage and priest. Dalor and Aurus stay back, while Credic casts Throw Frost at the backliners.

The mages among them, after rolling their eyes at Brian's antics, cast major haste, which grants all members of the party slight super-speed and the priests cast major bless, giving them slight super-strength. They then lob a fireball at both the priest and the mage. The two nephil fire away while the melee fighters hack away at the orc warriors.

The thing is, the melee fighters kinda blundered into Credic's Mephitic Cloud, and end up being as confused as the orcs. Still, the backliners are taken out and in seconds the cloud dissipates, and the remaining orcs are taken out.

Credic shakes his head, and says, "You know, guys, if I ever cast that spell again - and I will - try to stay out of it, will you? We don't exactly need to kill everything here, stalling is good too. Anyways, it looks like there are two doors out of here," he says, pointing to two adjacent doors, "so take your pick."

Find Spell Archives. It has every mage and priest spell in the game. And yes, I like Detect Life very much. Shows where there are monsters. Doesn't tell you what type. Just that there are monsters.)

Brian doesn't comment on the fact that he was unaffected by the cloud or the super-speed or super-strength. If the party is unaware of Blolran anti-magic shells, then there are better people than Brian to enlighten them.

Bottom line is that Brian will be unaffected by all positive OR negative spells. The only way magic can affect him is through throwing objects at him.

(OOC: Unaffected. The only way a magical attack can get through the anti-magic shells is for the magic to move a solid object and use that as a weapon. It's simply the nature of the anti-magic shell. It also makes it much more fair that I don't have any mages at all, but have a solid way of defending against their most powerful attacks.)

Garthass pulls out another big sheet of parchment and casts Detect Life, which shows every monster in the dungeon for a few minutes, using it to infer the general shape of the dungeon. He shows it to Daedas and the others.

It looks like that on the right side there are larger amounts of monsters (but smaller individually), while on the left there seem to be lesser amounts of monsters (but bigger indi-I think you get the point Razz)

Daedas shrugs. "Well, it seems there is no dissent."

As they enter the corridor, Aurus accidentally triggers an alarm. From the room in front of them comes out a group of gnolls, and the leader strikes at Aurus from a distance from a halberd that seems to magically reach forward. He then charges forth and takes out the leader, and goes loose on the others. Still, the gnolls resist viciously and Aurus gets hit by the gnolls, once with a spear dripping with poison. He then cries out in agony and steps back. Dalor then goes to the front, and also gets hit by the reaching halberd (picked up by another gnoll), while Daedas and Credic stay back, unable to do anything in the jammed corridor.

Dalor then shouts, "Some help would be nice!"

Garthass casts Wall of Ice in the hallway as the gnolls run toward them, which freezes any of them who try to walk through. Crispus casts Cure Poison on Aurus. The others set on them, hacking away and firing.

He charges in with his SHORT SWORD. Because of the cramped space an all. I mean, it's a whole lot different than charging in with your battle axe.
