PostSubject: A Reintroduction of Burninite Traders   Sun Aug 25, 2013 11:48 pm

Burninite trading vessels, having disappeared for months after the disaster at the Tears of Isha, have reappeared in new form. They're driving different ships which they term leviathans, carrying no weaponry, generally having blue skin, and generally going on as though nothing much of import happened.

Burninite trading vessels move to trade their wares -- metals and plant products -- for anything of interest from pretty much all nations. They make no discrimination. For larger trades, they direct planetary authorities to contact Burnination at the Tears of Isha themselves.

They apparently expect no international reaction to this development, but here it is, a-happening.

Heraklea greets this news with little interest beyond offering to provide destroyers and light cruisers for anti-piracy convoy escorts in exchange for favorable trade status and an agreement to share intelligence for anti-piracy operations.

The Burninites thank the Herakleans for their generous offer, but claim to need no help defending themselves from violent attack.

The Centauri, especially Morgan Industries, are relieved that the lucrative energy trade with Burnination can continue, and additionally also begin to purchase exotic biomass for study and potential exploitation.

Rhea has more or less the same reaction as the Centauri.

The Burninite Trading Council has released its manifest to all Burninite traders as the number of spaceworthy Leviathans continues to expand Burnination's shipping capacity to its older limits under then Consuls Jenova Incinerator and Thorgood, before the incident in which they lost their entire fleet. They're close to full trading capacity again, but not quite there. In any case, the manifest would be freely provided to agents of any other nation. This is a quick summary of what Burninites think of their trading partners currently. The statements are not indications of what Jenova or Teresa or those "in power" think necessarily, but they are where the general will in Burnination stands.

Burninite Trade Manifest; Annual; NIE (New Isha Era) date 0004.
Trading Partner: The Ordenreich
~ Prices are always fair. There is some overbearance of coercive force, so traders are advised not to panic and flee if approached by a legitimate Ordenreich vessel. Recent political movements in the Ordenreich show that their society is made up of good people, and trade here is recommended for their benefit as well as ours.
Trading Partner: Heraklea
~ Average trading. That said, the lanes are guaranteed to be safe and the prices fair, so Heraklea is always a safe bet.
Trading Partner: Alpha Centauri
~ Generally the governments here are overbearing, but good trades can be reached. Trades with CEO Morgan are likely to be unfair, but trades with the Peacekeepers, University, or Gaians are generally fair and recommended to all.
Trading Partner: Christana
~ A (thankfully) more libertine government makes trade profitable here, but also the population centers are more inhospitable and less controlled, so while trade is recommended, extended stays are not.
Trading Partner: Rhea
~ Obviously a good trading partner for all.
Trading Partner: Veridia Prime
Other Trading Partners: Magna Aurelia, Rutianas.
~ These nations have no recent direct diplomatic contact with Burnination. Trade is minimal but cordial. Fair prices are not guaranteed, so trade is recommended only for seasoned traders.

*The Ordenreich is prepared to receive Burninite traders and has set aside places in the market squares in every core world and colony for Burninite traders to sell their wares. Ordenreich military vessels will be stationed at points all along the trade route and have orders to respond to any SOS signals from trade vessels of any empire. The Ordenreich has sent a document to the Burninites explaining trade procedure between Burnination and the Ordenreich in Ordenreich space. The military vessels along the trade routes will only respond SOS signals and requests for military escort, they are not to hinder Burnination vessels for any reason otherwise. The Ordenreich has said that if any vessel has done so Burnination will be allowed to petition the Ordenreich government for redress. Upon arriving at an Ordenreich world it is requested that Burnination vessels declare their cargos and allow for an inspection team to come on board and make sure the cargo is legal and safe. Burnination vessels have the right to refuse a search but will not be allowed to trade on the planet. The Ordenreich is prepared to offer a zero trade tariff policy on all Burnination goods for acceptance of this request. Any Ordenreich traders in Burninite space are expected to maintain a level of respect when visiting Burnination worlds and if they break any Burnination laws the Ordenreich will accept whatever judgement the Burninite courts place on the offending trader.*

Jenova thanks the ambassador from the Ordenreich for his nation's continuing and unwarranted generosity towards the Burninites. She says that she will respond as soon as she determines the Burninite general will on the issue. She suggests that an addition of a fair balance to the no-tariff policy (like lower prices for Ordenreich traders) as well as an agreeable time limit on the special trading policy would almost certainly turn the Burninite general will in favor of the agreement. As it stands, she is not sure how it will fall out.
